Indications for Generic Hyzaar

Hyzaar is a medication which is a combination of two drugs: hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. The first drug, hydrochlorothiazide, is a water pill or a thiazide diuretic. It helps in preventing the body from absorbing high quantities of salt, which is usually the cause of water retention. The second drug, losartan, belongs to the group of medications which are called angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It prevents the narrowing of blood vessels, resulting to lower blood pressure and improved blood flow.

Hyzaar is generally used for the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure. It could also be used in lowering the risk of stroke in some individuals who have heart disease.

Important Information about Generic Hyzaar

You should take Hyzaar if you have an allergy to losartan or hydrochlorothiazide or if you cannot urinate.

Prior to taking Hyzaar, make sure to tell your doctor about any existing medical conditions you have including kidney disease, liver disease, congestive heart failure, asthma, lupus, gout, diabetes, an allergy to sulfa drugs, low or high levels of potassium in the blood.

Since Hyzaar could cause side effects which could impair the way you react or think, avoid driving or doing any activity that needs you to be alert unless you already know how the drug affects you. Dosage and Administration of Generic Hyzaar

You should only take Hyzaar or hydrochlorothiazide/losartan as it has been prescribed by your doctor for you. You should never take the medication in larger doses or for a longer time than what has originally been recommended by your doctor.
