Indications for Generic Coreg

Coreg or carvedilol is a medication which works through lowering the blood pressure and improving the function of the heart. Coreg is generally prescribed for controlling high blood pressure and is usually taken in combination with other drugs that lower blood pressure.

Coreg can also be prescribed for individuals who have congestive heart failure so that their survival rate would be increased, reducing the need for future hospitalization. It can also be used by individuals who have survived a heart attack but are now suffering from left ventricular dysfunction.

Important Information about Generic Coreg

You should not use Coreg if you have an allergy to carvedilol.

In some patients, Coreg caused a drop in their blood pressure when they suddenly stand up, which result to fainting and dizziness. If this happens, try to sit or lie down then notify your doctor. To prevent this from happening, you can take Coreg with a meal. Also, because of this side effect, it is best to avoid driving or doing any activity which require alertness until you are already aware of its effects on you.

Tell your doctor of any medical conditions that you have like liver disease and any heart conditions. Your dose may have to be adjusted if you have these or other medical conditions o you may be advised to take another medication.

Coreg have also been known to possibly affect conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Make sure to tell your doctor if you have these as you might have to be careful in using the medication. Also make sure to report any shortness of breath or weight gain that you experience to make sure that it is not brought about by the effects of Coreg on your existing condition.

There have also been some rare instances when Coreg caused liver damage. Make sure to inform your doctor the moment you experience symptoms of a liver disorder like dark urine, loss of appetite, flu-like symptoms, pain in the side, itching and yellowing of the skin.

Coreg could interfere with the effects of diabetes drugs and could cover up some symptoms of low blood sugar. It is important to tell your doctor if you have low blood sugar or diabetes. Also try to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly so that you can report any sudden changes right away.

Never suddenly stop taking Coreg without consulting your physician first. Stopping abruptly could cause your symptoms to return, particularly if you have an overactive thyroid. Dosage and Administration of Generic Coreg

You should only use Coreg or carvedilol as your doctor has prescribed. Never take it in larger doses or for a longer period of time than what has been advised for you.

Coreg is usually taken twice daily with meals.

If you miss a dose of Coreg, make sure you will take it as soon as possible but if it is time for your next dose, you can just skip the missed dose and then take the next scheduled dose. You should never take two doses together.

If you overdose on Coreg, get emergency medical help right away. Some symptoms of an overdose with Coreg include breathing difficulties, heart problems, slow heartbeat, loss of consciousness, seizures, vomiting and extremely low blood pressure.

Possible Side Effects of Generic Coreg

Coreg or carvedilol can cause some side effects including anemia, bronchitis, back pain, diarrhea, cough, fainting, fatigue, headache, increased cholesterol levels, increased blood sugar levels, joint pain, nausea, pain, low blood pressure, shortness of breath, slow heartbeat, sinus problems, swelling, vision changes, upper respiratory infection, vomiting, weight gain, weakness and wheezing.
